Based on the South Coast of Hampshire UK, I am largely self taught but an occasional workshop with another graphite artist proved useful when starting out although I have preferred to work out my own style and method to get the results I achieve today,
Initially working with watercolour, acrylic and pastels, I have grown to love the most basic medium - the graphite pencil. Today, graphite is still my first love but I do enjoy working with artist quality coloured pencil - sometimes combining the two if the subject lends itself. I enjoy capturing detail in tonal drawings and as my subjects are usually quite familiar, the tones allow the observers imagination to take over. My recent work using only white on black has a similar effect. |
